The crypto extension for Frontier implements a number of encryption algorithms and hash functions. The cryptographic code is based on the SSLeay 0.9.0b distribution (see below for copyright information).

Status

The current release of extensions.crypto is version 1.1a2. It should work with the Mac OS Classic, Mac OS X, and Windows versions of UserLand Frontier, starting with Frontier 6.0.

If you need access to other encryption algorithms or hashing functions from Frontier, please contact me.

The C source code for the Frontier DLL is available on request. It requires Metrowerks Codewarrior Pro 7 to compile.

Installation

Download extensions.crypto (.zip/.sit), decompress it and open the resulting file with Frontier. A new table will be installed at system.extensions.crypto.

Documentation

The crypto extension currently implements the following verbs:

See crypto.examples.oneliners for examples on how to use these verbs.

This package is an SSL implementation written by Eric Young . The implementation was written so as to conform with Netscapes SSL.

This library is free for commercial and non-commercial use as long as the following conditions are aheared to. The following conditions apply to all code found in this distribution, be it the RC4, RSA, lhash, DES, etc., code; not just the SSL code. The SSL documentation included with this distribution is covered by the same copyright terms except that the holder is Tim Hudson .

Please note that MD2, MD5 and IDEA are publically available standards that contain sample implementations, I have re-coded them in my own way but there is nothing special about those implementations. The DES library is another mater :-).

The licence and distribution terms for any publically available version or derivative of this code cannot be changed. i.e. this code cannot simply be copied and put under another distribution licence [including the GNU Public Licence.]

The reason behind this being stated in this direct manner is past experience in code simply being copied and the attribution removed from it and then being distributed as part of other packages. This implementation was a non-trivial and unpaid effort.
