2001-04-01: Lanhydrock
Since most of the interesting places in Devon worth a visit were still closed due to the foot and mouth epidemic, Pauline and I had decided to spend a couple of days in Cornwall, the south-western tip of England. So we booked a hotel and on Sunday, 1 April 2001, we drove down to Newquay.
On our way, we stopped at Lanhydrock (more links: 1, 2, 3) near Bodmin, once a country house of the 1st Baron Robartes of Lanhydrock and Truro. The following pictures show the house from the outside, the gatehouse, two displays of various household items from the late 19th century, the chapel and its cemetary, and the garden. Unfortunately, taking photos was not allowed inside most parts of the house.
